Aleksandra Piasecka – architect, sculptor, founder of a Warsaw based studio for sculpture.
The work focuses on the female figure as a structure under tension — between the weight of everyday life and the possibility of exceeding it. Form emerges through gravity and the accumulation of matter, reflecting the growing roles and expectations placed on women, which build up over time.
Her practice unfolds across two contrasting series of work — one rooted in everyday experience, the other opening into a speculative narrative about the future.
The Caryatids series consists of expanding structures at the intersection of sculpture and architecture. Here, matter begins to resist familiar laws — weight lifts, forms grow under pressure, and fragility becomes a turning point. The future is not presented as a vision, but as a question: can increasing tension become a source of strength, or does it lead to collapse?
The Woman Being series takes the form of self-portraits, yet moves away from physical likeness in favor of an emotional record of contemporary female experience.
Aleksandra started her career in France, working for the leading architecture studios in Paris: Christian de Portzamparc www.portzamparc.com , Manuelle Gautrand Architecture www.manuelle-gautrand.com, Wilmotte & Associés Architectes www.wilmotte.com.
